Using ResMap with ArcExplorer 3.1

You can access ResMap imagery from within ArcExplorer 3.1 just like you would if accessing services from an ArcIMS server.

It you don't already have ArcExplorer 3.1, your ResMap representative to get a free copy, or download the latest versions directly from ESRI here.

Using ECW Images with ArcExplorer 3.1

  1. Choose the Add Layers menu item from the Layer menu or click on the Add Layers button. This brings up the Catalog window.
  2. Click on the Add Web Site tree item and enter the name of the server you want to connect to. When connected, a list of available ResMap files will show under the web site you connected to.
  3. Click on the ECW files to add the name of the file and the type of service to the list on the right hand side of dialog. In the example above 1metercalif.ecw is an Image service (all ECW files will be image services).
  4. Click on the name of the ECW file on the right hand list to add this as a layer and display in the main ArcExplorer window.

Only one image can be displayed at a time, but you can add multiple ECW image layers and switch between them being on or off. When viewing an ECW image with vector data from ArcIMS, ensure the ECW image is the bottom most layer so the vector data can be drawn on top of the image.
